MYTHS ABOUT CLIMB PREPARATION

MYTH 1. I’m in great physical shape — I train in the gym, run marathons, completed Ironman. I don’t need special preparation for mountains

Being physically fit is an advantage — but it does not protect you from the key factor at altitude: hypoxia (lack of oxygen).

At altitude, the body operates under completely different conditions. Even strong and well-trained athletes may face:

  • acute altitude sickness
  • sudden loss of energy
  • impaired heart and brain function

That’s why the key to mountain preparation is adapting your body to low-oxygen conditions.

Our center uses hypoxic training, which teaches your body to function efficiently with reduced oxygen levels — just like at high altitude.
